Ernest Hemingway, one of the most outstanding American writers, is probably famous for his novel The Old Man and the Sea. If you didn’t like the book at primary school as much as me, welcome to the club.

Nevertheless, that’s not the point of this article. Legend has it that nearly a hundred years ago, Hemingway’s buddies bet him $10 that he wouldn’t write a short story in only six words. You don’t need to be Sherlock Holmes to guess that he succeeded in creating a brief piece of writing. It was called „For Sale: baby shoes, never worn.” Truly sad, but inspirational for future generations.

In November 2006, SMITH Magazine asked its readers to share stories of their lives in Six-Word Memoirs. They didn’t need to wait long for bittersweet, hilarious and even poignant responses. The project has become a great phenomenon all over the world. Each and every day, people write their stories online, speak about them in classrooms, churches or at work. One of my favourite quotes I’ve found on the Internet is „Don’t make me come down there” ~ God.

I believe that we’re a bit stressed out to enjoy our lives. Constant rush, rat race or worrying about irrelevant things. That’s what the majority of us experience every day. That’s why my story for you is:

Life is too short. Be yourself.
